Motions 1 The Wave 2021

Choreography of  bleu colour, texture and form: a diagonal tide of turquoise, teal and hints of lime threads sweeps from lower left to upper right across a velvety black Fabriano ground.

The dense core of intertwined strands acts like a theatrical body, compact and charged, while looser filaments unfurl like dancers releasing into space.

Texture is sculpted by hand-stitched tension — overlapping loops, varied thicknesses and slight fraying create a tactile relief that catches light and invites close looking. Form moves between concentrated knot and airy extension, balancing momentum with stillness.

The composition appeared quite quickly compared to the other ones - a gentle movement made "The Wave" appear in all its glory. A moment of grace that takes a long time to work for.

Created  from upcycled material this art work transforms humble threads into a staged performance of connection and breath.
