Chute Libre 2024

Chute Libre is a composition born of interruption—a moment when gravity took over and threads fell into place.

While preparing the layout, Olka Schok’s companion brushed past the paper, catching its edge with an elbow.

The threads, once carefully arranged, collapsed in a cascade.

But instead of loss, there was revelation: a spontaneous choreography of descent.

Olka preserved the accident, recreating the fallen form with care and curiosity. The result is a dynamic tangle of green, yellow, and light blue threads, looping and spiraling across a black stage like dancers mid-fall.

The composition captures the essence of Qi–Dance: movement that arises unexpectedly, beauty that emerges from chaos.

Chute Libre invites viewers to embrace the unplanned, to see motion not as control but as surrender. It is a visual breath—a fall that became flight.
