Calme 1 2021

" Calme_1 " composes the most quiet theatre of colour, texture and form I've ever created.  Horizontal bands of lime green, turquoise and cobalt blue thread undulate across a deep velvety black Fabriano ground, suggesting a compressed landscape where land meets water.

Texture is the work’s choreographer — hand-stitched tensions, overlapping wefts and subtle shadowing create layered depth that invites a slow, attentive gaze.

Form is economical and deliberate: a compact core of wavering lines expands into finer radiating strands, balancing stillness and motion.

The dotted lime-green stitch framing the piece reads like a stage edge, containing the action while emphasizing the softness of the gestures within.

My chellenge in this composition was to recreate the same order that the fabric weft had before I sprinkled it.

Rooted in recycled fibres, "Calme_1 " transforms humble material into a small-format performance of material presence, where each stitched line acts as a dancer in a precise formation.

It’s ideal for interiors that welcome calm choreography, handcrafted detail and a contemplative encounter with green-blue-white rhythm.
