A Blade of a Grass 2023

This was the first composition I made with short, straight, rigid threads. They felt stiff beneath my fingers and reluctant to bend, so I let their resistance shape the work.

Slowly I learned to enjoy their tangible texture and the small rebellions of each filament as they found their place.

Set against black Fabriano paper and held by a white frame, the clustered green threads recall early spring walks along the Bruche Canal, the new paths of grass and the quiet choreography of growth.
